Office XP simplifies the oft-perplexing mail merge procedure with its new Mail Merge Wizard, which allows you to step forward and backward through the mail merge process using a simple task pane. Al-though Word 2002’s process seems to require many more steps than earlier versions, a lot of organiza-tional improvements have been made to enhance its ease of use. In the long run, the shorter, simpler steps provided by the Mail Merge Wizard can help you perform a mail merge much more quickly than the clunky Mail Merge Helper dialog box found in earlier versions. Here’s how to use it to achieve the same effect we showed you in this month’s article “Use Excel data to create mail merge documents in Word”:
