Change your default date separator (2000/2002/2003/2007)

Operating System:
Microsoft Windows
Some people like to use a period (.) when they separate their dates instead of a slash (/). For example, you might prefer 4.15.2008 instead of 4/15/2008. If you’re tired of creating a custom number format that accommodates your desired date format, try changing Windows’ default date separator.
Important: If you change your default Windows setting to a different date separator, the change applies to all programs — not just Excel.
