In the article titled “Change a data range’s text case with 3 easy shortcut keys,” found in this issue, we showed you how to create your own text case conversion shortcut keys. If you have large amounts of Excel data that you need to convert into a different case, adding these macros to that workbook will suffice. But if you find yourself wanting to change text case in Excel often, you’ll want to use those shortcut keys no matter what workbook you’re working with. All you need to do is add the macros and their shortcut keys to your personal.xls file.
In Windows, you can make your macros available to every workbook by saving them in a workbook titled personal.xls, which resides in Excel’s XLSTART subdirectory. When you launch Excel, your personal.xls workbook opens instead of a new workbook.
