Create a portable electronic reproduction of a report

Create a portable electronic reproduction of a report
—by Sean Kavanagh

Application:
Microsoft Access 2000

You put a lot of time and effort into making your re-ports useful as well as attractive. But what do you do when you need to email this data to others, such as customers, who either don’t have Access or don’t want to use it? You can export the data as a Word document but the result doesn’t look like the original report, as you can see in Figures A and B. The ex-ported report won’t contain everything you see in your Access report window, such as grid lines or graphics. Fortunately, there’s a way to export a copy of the report and make it look like it does when it’s printed from Access. Using Snapshot files, you can electronically distribute reports that retain the look of the original Access report.

A page from the original report looks good in Access.
